Russell Thompkins, Jr. talks sound of Philadelphia on Classix 107.9

Russell Thompkins, Jr. stops by the studio ahead of his Sunday show at Live! Casino and Hotel, to talk with Shaila about the impact on Philadelphia sound in music.

Thompkins Jr., a lead member of the stylistics, talked about the early beginning of the band, comprised of members from the separate bands in high school coming together, made what would become known as a legendary playmaker in the early R&B scene. Thompkins Jr. payed homage to those who came before him, honoring William Hart as one of his pioneer influences.
