The ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, MacKenzie Scott

has given Lincoln University The nation’s oldest HBCU – –  the largest gift from a single donor in the university’s 167-year history, $20 million! —

It’s part of her $4 billion giveaway tour. Well so to speak. —

A number of other historically black universities and organizations also received money:

  • Delaware State University.
  • Easter Seals Southeastern Pennsylvania
  • The Greater Philadelphia YMCA
  • The United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey

Also received Financial gifts and… Most importantly the money comes with no strings attached.

In May 2019, Mackenzie Scot signed the “The Giving Pledge” a charitable giving campaign in which she willingly committed to giving away most of her wealth to charity over the course of her life or in her will.

Miss Scott is divorced from Billionaire Jeff Bezos — Their divorce settlement in 2019 left her with 35.6 billion in Amazon stock making her The third wealthiest woman in the world and one of the wealthiest people in the world overall.  —  And if she’s got money to spare… Education can use it

It’s believed that many people don’t attend or consider HBCUs because of the scholarship factor. Not because of the quality of education. This is why endowments like this are so important. A lot of students get lost because of the costs of the universities and the unavailability of funding.

HBCUs were founded to give black students better opportunities for education when they weren’t allowed to attend white ones. Not having the same financial resources has always been an issue. This gift will help give people more opportunity.

Let’s hope this gift from MacKenzie Scott is a gift that will keep on giving.
