Philly Pride Welcomes Thousands and Honors Patti LaBelle
The City of Brotherly Love kicked off Pride Month in historic fashion on Sunday, drawing over 140,000 attendees for a massive, celebration. For the first time ever, the annual Pride March and Festival moved out of the Gayborhood and onto the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to accommodate the record-breaking crowds.

The defining highlight of the festival was a powerhouse, multigenerational Philadelphia Legacy Musical Tribute dedicated to Grammy-winning entertainer and Philly native Patti LaBelle. LaBelle joined local icons on stage, including the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus, Laurin Talese, and Lady Alma, to celebrate her enduring legacy.
The day kicked off with the annual Pride March, before making its way to the Parkway. At the center of the parade was the inspiring “Philly Progress Pride Flag.” Stretching a record-breaking 1,000 feet, the massive banner featured expanded stripes specifically honoring transgender individuals and Black and brown communities.
The festival featured more than 150 LGBTQ+-owned vendors, family-friendly activation areas, and a dedicated “Silver Zone” for older generations. The blockbuster event capped off a week of citywide festivities, including flag-raising ceremonies at the Betsy Ross House and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Ultimately, the historic gathering proved to be a powerful success. As Tyrell Brown, executive director of Philly Pride 365, noted, the weekend reflected the true heart of the city: a multigenerational celebration of joy, visibility, and the undeniable resilience of the LGBTQ+ community.
