Freeway Launches Career Program at Mastery Pickett
Philadelphia hip-hop legend Freeway is giving back to his roots. Through his Freedom Thinkers Academy, the rap artist partnered with Mastery Charter School’s Pickett Campus in Germantown to launch a direct workforce entry program.
Students receive specialized technical training and professional certification at no cost. Upon graduation, they gain direct entry into high-demand careers like phlebotomy. The initiative holds deep personal meaning for Freeway. It is dedicated to the memory of his late daughter, Harmony Ellerbe, who graduated from the very same school.
“It’s important to have people believe in you and offer a helping hand,” Freeway shared, emphasizing his goal to give local youth a head start in the professional world.
