South Philadelphia native, Derrick Sampson got his start as a contestant on the Miss Jones Morning Show. After losing out to other contestants, he used his time at the station and made connections leading him to a part time internship in the marketing & promotions department in 2006. When he wasn’t working events, he was in the studio learning all things radio.
Derrick was then hired as a board operator and producer across all 3 stations at the time. While honing and excelling at his craft, Derrick was then assigned to be a producer for Soulful Sunday with radio legend Dyana Williams. Derrick’s off -air and on-air banter quickly caught the attention of listeners and the program director, and Derrick was quickly named a co-host of Soulful Sunday.
Derrick has been on -air ever since, occasionally filling in for other personalities, he can be heard holding his own on SoulfulĀ Sunday from 10am until 3pm where he’s been over 15 years. While he’s worked in various roles in the retail and transportation sectors, his love of music and radio is what keeps him here.
