One of America’s favorite Chicanos is coming back.

George Lopez is returning to the broadcast television space after 15 years since the end of ABC’s “George Lopez” show. This time around his new sitcom show will feature someone who has seen Lopez in almost every facet of his life. “Lopez vs. Lopez” will have George and his real-life daughter Mayan Lopez sharing plenty of family time together in NBC’s studios. According to Variety, the show is being described as “a working-class family comedy about dysfunction, reconnection and all the pain and joy in between.” This going to be 61-year-old’s fourth television show in his almost 40-year career.

After “George Lopez” was done, Lopez went to host TBS late-night talk show until 2011. Then in 2014, he created a non-traditional comedy for FX named “Saint George”, which lasted just one season. Lopez then went back to the traditional sitcom format with TVLand’s “Lopez”, but it only lasted two seasons. “Lopez vs. Lopez” has been in development since June 2021, and was promptly ordered for a pilot by NBC in October 2021.

Re-ocurring characters will also be focal point in the show showcasing the relatable family dynamics. Those people are including Rosie, Mayan’s mother and George’s ex-wife. Quinten, Mayan’s live-in boyfriend. Chance, Mayan and Quinten’s five-year-old son. There isn’t an official release date for the show yet but George and Mayan Lopez have been recently spotted about promoting their upcoming projects.
