This is NOT a drill. The British R&B group is working on new music.

During an interview with Billboard, French producer and composer Damien Quintard may have mistakenly revealed Sade’s plans for the future. Quintard recently linked up with Brad Pitt to rebuild and co-own Provence, France’s Miraval Studios. The 2,200 acre Chateau Miraval now has a rebuilt state-of-the-art studio living aside itself.

Quintard slipped the fact that Sade was the first band to record at the renovated studios. Brad Pitt even chimed in and called her “royalty”.

“You could feel the love that she and the band had for this place,” says Quintard. “And when we talked to musicians who came here previously, they all have this special connection with Miraval that can’t really be explained … It’s a dream come true to see this place activate again.”

The return of Sade would mark the first album from the band since Solider of Love back in 2010. The band even won a Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals Grammy for the title track. Fans may have speculated an earlier return of the band after they showed up in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time and Steve McQueen’s Widows movie soundtracks in 2018. Unfortunately for them and fans another hiatus followed.

In late July, Michael Pena, the band’s sole sound engineer, mixer and producer, died at 72.

Whenever Sade wants to officially return to the stage, R&B lovers will certainly be there to support.
